Dr. Alice J. McCullough-Garrett
Dr. Alice McCullough-Garrett is a retired-educators with more than 45 years in public education as a Classroom Teacher, Assistant Principal, Middle School and High School Principal and Chief Consultant at the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction(NCDPI). At NCDPI, Dr. Garrett was Chief Consultant and Section Chief overseeing teams serving low-performing schools throughout North Carolina. She is president of the Flood Group, President of the Bobby F. Garrett Cancer Benefit, Inc, and serves as Church School Superintendent for the Western District of the Western North Carolina Conference of the AME Church. Dr. Garrett is the recipient of many awards and certificates for her service including United States Congressional Recognition; the NAACP President’s Award; and the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of the highest awards given to a North Carolina citizen. She is the mother of two, Joseph, a former educator and Dr. Chaunte Garrett, former Superintendent of Rocky Mount Prep Schools and Faculty Member ASCD International.
Garrett received an AA Degree from Kittrell College, Kittrell, NC, BS from Allen University, Columbia, SC,.MAT in Teaching from Fordham University, New York, Administrative Certification from North Carolina Central University, Durham and the ED.D degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Garrett is proud to be a Zeta Dove with over 53 years as a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, where she is a Zeta Legacy and has served the organization in leadership capacities on the local, State, Regional and National levels.
